In 2006, the Technology Education Foundation (TEF) awarded grants to deserving recipients throughout Dane County. Each recipient demonstrated their ability to provide technology education for the greater good of our community. Congratulations to Cherokee Middle School, Diocese of Madison Catholic Multicultural Center, Simpson Street Free Press, and YMCA of Dane County.
Cherokee Middle School is a diverse learning community dedicated to providing all students with strong curriculum, leadership, and support. Their school community is expected to use problem solving skills, respect diversity, develop self-confidence, and make a positive contribution to the learning environment. Cherokee Middle School will use the TEF grant to purchase smartboard technology, providing students with a graphic learning environment.
Diocese of Madison Catholic Multicultural Center offers programs that serve people of all denominations, cultures, ethnicities, and racial backgrounds. Some of these programs include computer lab access, classes, homework clubs, ESL programs, job development, and childcare. They will use the TEF grant to support hardware and software purchases to improve these programs for the future.
Simpson Street Free Press has evolved into one of Dane County’s most respected youth programs. Students are responsible for writing and publishing a newspaper that reaches thousands of readers across our community. They will use the TEF grant to support hardware and software purchases to help grow their capabilities.
YMCA of Dane County responds to the needs of area families by providing quality programs to youth, with an emphasis on healthy lifestyles. YMCA offers a place for youth to get involved in positive recreational and academic activities. They will use their TEF grant to support hardware and software purchases.
Did you know that 100% of proceeds from the Berbee Derby go to the Madison-based Technology Education Fund (TEF)? The annual Thanksgiving Day event has become a family tradition for many. Fun event for all ages and levels.
The Berbee Derby celebrated their 20 year anniversary this Thanksgiving — which was its final year of the annual event.
